The Casino San Pellegrino Terme
The Casino Municipale of San Pellegrino Terme is a magnificent example of Art Nouveau. Located at the beginning of the twentieth century and will open in July 1907. This beautiful building is still a priceless testimony to the originality and imagination of the decorations, and the architectural elegance. Built by the architect Romolo Squadrelli in continuation of the porches of the hot springs, presents an imposing facade, but at the same time graceful, with a strong symbolic, rich decorative elements, stucco, friezes and bas-reliefs by the sculptor Paul Cross.
Of particular interest are the two tall towers on the façade recalling the previous Monte-Carlo Casino by Charles Garnier, the holder and pennant wrought iron Alessandro Mazzucotelli, at the base painted kites like butterflies symbolize the "art nouveau". Important artists collaborated in the realization of this work are the frescoes Malerba, pads Bernasconi, sculture del Vedani, beautiful stained glass windows of Beltrami and Buffa, furniture all designed by Eugene Quarter.
Festivals and cultural events
Together with the Grand Hotel and Spa, Casino beginning of the 900 represented a big draw for a world of wealthy people who came from all over in search of fun and entertainment. Closed and reopened several times, ceases its activity in 1946. The structure of the Municipal Casino is now used as a cultural events, a meeting, Congress, wedding receptions, social dinners, galas, fashion shows, conventions, exhibitions and shows of various kinds.
